London, October 7. A Shanghai message states that the absence of news concerning the fate. of Mrs M. Pawley and Mr R. F. Corkran who were held for ransom in the interior by bandits, is causing grave anxiety. No news has heen reeeived for 12 days although it is eonsidered probable that heavy rains have prevented communication with the bandits' camp. " .
