LARGE TREE FELLED® ACROSS RANOLF 9 STREET 1 A cyclist and a motorist had® rov7 escape in Ranolf Street n day afternoon, when they escap9 a hairsbreadth heing crushed 9 a large bluegum tree which cr® across the road. 1 It is understood that the tre® one of several in the railwayp® j tion which had been purchasedl I firewood. One tree had been® | in the morning without misha® I the second took the. wrong dir® and crashed across the road, fl ing the power and telephone® with it. A cyclist who was p® hurriedly dismounted and alt® he escaped injury, had his m® damaged, while a motorist all i caped by quickly reversing and| ing his car out of danger. | The tree was almost 100 fe| height and its topmost foliage| i down a fence on the other s| the street. Traffic was tea® blocked and the road was noifl cleared of debris until akfl o'clock. |
