Methodist Bazaay The Minister and officials of Bainbridge Memorial Church desire to express their thanks to all who by their gifts and service so greatly contributed to the success of the recent bazaar, and also the public of Rotorua for its generous patronage.. Rotorua Motor Camp The Rotorua Borough Council has decided to open the Rotorua Motor Camp during the Labour Day weekend, %hen the usual f acilities' will be available for campers. Help for Wairoa . . - On Wednesday evening the Rotorua Borough Council decided to donate £5 5s to the Mayor's fund for the rclief of distress in Wairoa as the result of the earthquake, Lists are now open at the town clerk's office and at the 'Morning Post," and subscriptions •will be acknowledged periodic'ally." • Large Increasa Information obtained from the certifying officer for Rotorua (Mr. A. M. Robertson), indicates a eonsiderable increase in the total unemployed registrations d'uring the past four weeks, the present total being 600. This is an increase of 40 during the month, and includes 16 at Mamaku, and 23 at Ngongotaha. It is made up of 79 single men, 336 married men with up to two children, and 185 married men with over two children. Summer Time To-morro w From to-miorrow morning standard time throughout the Dominion will be advanced thirty minutes under the provisions of the. Summer Time Act, 1929. Although th-e act provides that public docks shall be advanced at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, in Rotorua the alteration to the Post Office clock will be affected at 11 p.m. to-night and no doubt residents will make the change before retiring for the night. The altered time will be in operation until Sunday, March 19, 1933. Bursting into Bloom With surprising suddenness and almost overnight, the plane trees bordering the streets of Rotorua are now developing their summer mantle and before long each will be. covered with the green foliage which lends so much attractiveness to the appearance of the town. Relief Funds Benefit The band recital and concert to be held to-morrow evening in the Majestic Theatre in aid of the Mayor's earthquake relief fund and the Rotorua distress fund, promises to be an ent&rtainment of very high standard and one which will be thoroughly enjoyed. In addition to the band items, which are sux-e to prove very popular, many well-known Rotorua entertainers will also be providing a varied selection of popular numbers, and tho whole recital should prove one of the best produeed in Rotorua for some time. Economic Report Chalienged During the present week Mr. C. H. Clinkard, M.P., took advantage of a brief break in his Parliamentary duties to visit his home in Rotorua. In the course of a short interview with a representative of the 'Post" yesterday he gave the assurance that he had not overlooked the references made by the Economic Commission to Rotorua and the lands of the district. "I have already dealt with that aspect of the report on the floor of the House," he declared, "and when you receive a record of my protest you will realise that I have not allowed the ridiculous statements made to pass without an emphatic challenge." The suggestions with regard to the borough he considered entirely unraasonable. High Schcol Sports To-day At the Rotorua High School this afternoon the girls' section of the school's annual sports meeting will be held, the first event commencing at 2 p.m. Unfortunately at a late hour last night the weather conditions did not look very proniising and should a postponement be considered necessary to-day events will be decided on Monday afternoon. Parents and friends are earnestly requested to attend and lend their encouragement to this important side of the school's activities.
