Wellington, Thursday. In the House of Representatives this afternoon, Mr. W. E. Barriard (Labour, Napier) raised a question of breach of privile^e. He referred to a leatjing article in to-day's "Dominion" 'headed "Commission and Politicians." Mr. Barnard said he considered that the statements in the article refiected very seriously on the lionour of iParliament and he felt it was his duty to bring the matter up. ' 'Mr. Barnard asked the Prime Ministef (Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) whe- , ther it was intended to set up a Commit'te'e of FriviTege. " The Prime Minister said he intended to do this and the House agreed to refer the "Dominion" article to the eommittee which will also consider Mr. A. Macintosh's addendum to the report of the National Expenditure Commission. Inter alia, tjie leading* article referred to, said: "The guardians (meaning Parliament) having abdicated, and in effect, become the plunderers, the Government was forced to appoint a Royal Commission to disclose the real position . . . but the people feel that tliey jiave found champions in the National ' Expenditure Commissibn and the pebple will have no sympatliy for thb'se politicians who are' xrying to put the commission ixi the pillory . . . . the evidence of the betrayal of Parliament's trusteeship is set forth clearly and in detail in the report and the individual" commissioners. have earned" the 'thanKs 'oif The country for their faithful discharge of an unpalatable task, wha'tever the politicians may say."
