Aboriginals from Goulburn Island told Gray thaf the. Japainese had just unloacled a cargo of trepang, wlien tbe Caledon Bay natives rushed the camp, and seized their guns whicli w'ei-'e stacked' against the. trees. The natives fired and killed a Japanese. They also used sjiovels and spears to de'adly purpose. * The natives afterwards looted the lugger and finally escaped in a Japanese dinghy. Mr. Gray buried 'the hodies of five Japanese, and returned to the Mullimbingi mission. About twenty aboriginals were concern'e'd'in the attack.
