Unyeiling Maori Memorial A large Maoi-i gathering will tkke place during the coming week-end when a carved totara memorial with inseribed granite plates will he unveiled at Ruamata Settlement, about six miles from Rotorua. The memorial has been erected to the memory of Ngawhika Otini, Tamihana Tikitere, and Tikitere, the elder, all of whom died spme time ago. By special invitation a large party of Ratanaite Maoris wijl be arriving in Rotorua on Saturdhy to participate in the ceremonial. Children's Entertainment, A special attractiori . for children has been arfanged for the matinee at the Majestie Theatre next Saturday afternoon when Glancy's jungle comedians will appear on the stage with a large troupe of performing dogs, apes and monkeys. The ordinary programme of pietures will also be shown. Rotorua Goif Club open championships by the presentation by Brents; Limited, of a handsome silver cup for the competition of its guests competing in the tournament. The cup is to be won outright and will be presented to the player seeuring the best net score in the qualifying round of the tourney.
Lodge Ball To.-nigbt , One of the phief annual social.functions of the Rangi Rehekah Lodge will take place this evening in the Majestie Ballroom, when the annual ball and 500 tournament will he held, In. order to cater for devotees of both classes of dances, both old time and jazz music will be provided by Epi Shalfoon's melody orchestra. Prizes will be awarded the winners of the novelty dances. Indications of a very large attendance are evident. Generous Donation Mr. D. V. Byf ant; of Hamilton; is visitirig Auckland in connection with his land settlement scheme. The proposal has created great interest in Auckland and many donations have been made to it there. Mr. Bryant advises that donations are still coming in freely and that .he yesterday received one of- £1000 from ah Auckland citizen.
