TO-DAY AND TO-NIGHT.

More than £2000 was invested hy Universal in electrical equipment used in one scene of its thriller, "Frankenstein," now showing at the Majestic Theatre. The seene, rousingly depicting the coming to life of the scientificallymanufaetured monster of the Mary Shelley tale, used an especially constructed "lightning bridge," "vaeuum electrolyzer," "bariton generator" and "nucl'eus analyzer," to use the terms of the technicians. Each of the instruments carried over 1,500,000 volts, producing an effect said to be one of the most bair-raising thrills ever seen on the screen. It required three rnaster electrical experts, Frank GraVes,- Kenneth Strickfadden and Raymond Lindsay, and a staff of 25 men to manipnlate the apparatus. A guard was eonstantly set about the apparatus while the juice was on. James Whale was the director of "Franbenstein" and Colin Clive, Mae Clarke, John Boles and Boris Karloff head its cast.
