EXPRESS TRAIN PLUNGES THROUGH BRIDGE TBESTLE MANY DEAD AND INJURED

Rec. Oct. 2, 5.5 p.m. Vanconver, Oct. 1, A message from Dakersfjeld, California, stated that from 40 to 45 are estimated dead according to met.er reports received tp-day from the Tehachaci ,Pass regions, which were struck by a terrific cloudburst on Friday night. A fqrther message states that 12 bodies, including that of the engineer and firemen, have been recovered from the wreckage of six cars and the locpmotive of a Southern Pacifie freight train, which plunged through a bridge trestle. Sixty were reported to be on the train. Other bodies, estimated at 30 arc visible in the water. The victims are believed to be itinerants. y The deluge overflowed the Ensyone stream and wrecked another freight train, The water was hurled 45 feet high down the path, washed out nine bridges and flooded at least half a dozen villages.
