TOSSED BY ELEPHANT
A REMARKABLE ESCAPE. A camera which he was carrying in his pocket saved Mr. W. H. Fletcher, a Kenya stock inspector, from serious injury when he was charged by an angry elephant riear Dar-es-Saalam, East Africa, recently. The animal, which was guarding its young, was startled when Mr. Fletcher broke cpver. He evaded its rUsh, hut the heast turned and repeatedly tried to gore him. Eventually it landed a vicious blow with one of its tusks, hut the tusk struck and smashed the , camera and was defleeted. The elephant then caught Mr. Fletcher and tossed him. He fell into a would adjourn the case for three tree and, clinging to its branch'es, remained there until the animal moved off. A doctor from Nairobi dasbed by airplane to the camp, but found Mr.
