Old Joke Revived.
An old joke was tried at Palnrerston North last week, hut times have cliangod. A certain firm sent its messago boy to a paint shop for "sixpennyworth of harber's pole paint, and it must he in the one pot, please." Tbe employees, liowever, prohahly cauglit the same way years ago, sympathised with the unsuspecting youth and, hringing their talents to bear, actually fix'ed a tin of striped paint — consisting of a water paint and two oil paints, which, when stirred together, left a solid white with the required streaks in it. A docket for (id was then handed to tho hoy, wi1;h strict( instruetions not to agitate the contents of the pot. Shortly afterwards the firm concerned p'aid its account for 6d to the painters!
