Wellington, Wednesday, According to an announcement by tho Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, there is every likelihood that many advertising hoardings disfiguring the countryside will shortly disappear. Speaking at the Wellington Horticultural Soeiety's Spring show, today, and remarlcing upon the aesthetie improvement in and around the city in the way of gardens, his Excellency said it gave him great pleasure to announce that, after negotiations extending over the past 18 months, he was able to say disfigurements hy motor spirit hoardings would probably soon disappear through Ihe public spirited attitude oi" the Hhell Company. That company

had given him an undertalcing that their advertising boards in all country districts would soon be removed. The only exeeption would be at the ontranpes to towns, informing motorists wliere requirements would, be obtainable. Bince that undertalcing was given, his Excellency had been in communication with three other firms, and he had reason to believe that they would follow the Sholl Compapy's cxample, except in regard to advertising on Railway Board contracts, etc. , „ Bpeaking of the Dominion's many beauties, his Excellency said he hoped that other husinesses would follow the example. No beauty should bo_ destroyed by what he ealled , men's "eommereial abnormality."
