THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroloplst issued the following weather rep^rt and forecast last niffht: — General situation: An anti-cyclone covers eastern Australia and is advancing toward New Zealand, but pressure rernains rather low to the north, and the easterly type of weather is likely to continue. Forecast: Winds light to moderate and variable with south-easterlies to north-easterlies prevailirig. -r ■ Weather: Still cioudy to overcast over the North Island, with rain in the eastern distriots between Cook Strait and the East Cape a'nd at scattered places elsewhere, but improving gradually; fair to fine in the South Island, but cioudy on the east coast; temperatures moderate. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.747ins. Thermometer (max.) 57.2deg. Thermometer (mi'n.) 52.8deg. Thermometer (niin. on grass) 48.8deg. Rainfall 0.42ins. Bright Sunshine Nil
