INTO THE BREACH
LARGE FISH ASSISTS TO STjOP LEAK AT ARAPUNI Wellington, Tuesday. "It was revealed by the acting-Min-ister of Public Works (Hon; C. E. Macmillan) to-day that a large fish had played an important part in the recent remedial measures at Arapuni. The Minister smilingly narrated how whfen th'e minor leak Was discoVered Iast week, above the central drain in the heUd-i'ace near the cut-off wall, a diver was sent down to make irivestigations. The seepage in the outlet had suddenly dimihished in volume and the diver discovered that a large fish had become wedged in the cfevice. He Was unafale to remove the obstructidn and it temained in that position until the tarpaulin used for temporarily plugging th'e hole was laid. . The Minister said that the volume Of ihe discharge had decreased by half as a result of ihe fish becoming wedged in the crevicO. "It is a ch'arige to find softiething in the ndture of humoitf ' assoeiated with OUr aciiyities at Arapuni," said the Minister.
