SWEEPSTAKES ATTACKED
"Week-ending" and sweeps'takes were criticised by the Rev. W. C. Jackson, the new president, in his address to the last conference of the Uhited Methodist Church at Bristol, England. Speaking particularly of sweepstakes, hfe said: "Th'ese co'rrosive . things are eating their way into most of our sports, and are ihfecting the h'eart of our social life. We cannot accept these things as part of a so'eie'ty feased On ChfistiAh T6thics."
