Cucksey have embarked on a programme of bsautifying in connection v/ith the tnwnship. Unsightly corners are te be tilled and planted in shrubs and fiowers, and the approaches to the township made attractive. The idea is one which might well be emulated in other localities.

Earthquake Relief Fund The first entertainment to be arranged in Rotorua towards the relief of distress resulting from the Wairoa earthquakes will be held in the Dixieland hall on Wednesday evening, when the management will hand the proceeds of an old time dance to his Worship the Mayor (Mr. T. Jackson) for the henefit of the fund mentioned. Tlie Wonderland Band will supply the rausic for the dancing and with the assistance of the public the fund should henefit to a substantial extent. Capsized Near Waikaremoana A party of Auckland motorists travelling towards Rotorua on Saturday evening had a narrow escaps from serious injury when the sedan car in which they were travelling left the road and droppad down a 25 foot bank about 10 miles on the Rotorua side of Waikaremoana. Although the car capsized it sustained very little damage, the hood being pierced and the rear bodvwork slightly dented. None of the passengors were injured. Flax MIII Re-opens It is reported from Te Puke that the fiax mill at Te Kopu, on the Kaituna Itivei*, will re-open in a few days, The Tauranga Power Board will supply current and worlcmen are engaged putting the mill in order.
