The Government meieorolopist issued the following weather repirt and forecast last night: — General situation: An anti-cyclone is now centred off the East Coast of the South Island. Forecast: Winds, north-easteriy to easterly north of Kawhia and East Cape, eisewhere south -westerly, moderate to strong generally and Teaching gale force at places in and north of Cook Strait. Weather: Fair in v^estern and southern districts of the South Island; eisewhere cloudy to overcast with rain in many places and some hoavy falls in the northern a'nd «easterg districts of the North Island; cool temperatures.
