LEADERS RENEW EFFORTS TO ARRANGE A SETTLEMENT THE MAHATMA WEAKER

Rec. Sept. 23, 7.0 p.m. Calcutia, Sept. 23. Gandhi frequently drinks water containing a small quantity of soda. Hindu and "untouchable" leaders renewed their efforts at Poona to reach a settlement of the electorate issues and following an interview with Gandhi last night, stated that a final decision is likely to-day. Gandhi's strength evidently is not the same as before. Gandhi, who fasted 42 days a few years ago, is already showing* signs of exhaustion after 36 hours. His wife who also is a political prisoner, has been transferred to Yervada gaol to take care of her husband.
