THE WEATHER
The Government meteorolopist lssued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: A moderate westerly depression has been crossing the South Island. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong, southerlies in the far south; elsewhere light to moderate northerlies, but southerlies extersding latr as far as Cook Strait. Weather: Mainly fair to cloudy at ■. first, but sonie showers in the southern and western districts of the South Isla'nd and later extending; temperatures mild, but a change moving up from the south shortly. I Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Earometer 29.952ins. Thermometer (max.) 64.2deg. Thermometer- (min.) 36.6deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 29.2deg. Rainfall — Nil Bright Sunshine 9.9hrs.
