RUMOUR THAT MORE ,/ILL BE ADMITTED DENIED Wellington, Wednesday. It has been reported that the New Zealand Government has entered into an arrangement with the Imperial Government to undertake an immigration scheme with the object of absorbing some of the surplus population of the United Kingdom. A statement has been circulabed tbat the Imperial Government has agreed to make available some millions of pounds at a small rate of interest in order to enable the New Zealand Government to finance the scheme. The matter was mentioned - to the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates to-day, but the said there was no foundation for the suggestion. The question of immigration, he said, had naturally been discussed at the Ottawa Conference, but no agreement had been entered into.
