: ENDEAVOURS TO SAVE LIFE OF DRQWNING MAN. . Wellington, Wednesday. The attempt of two young men to save a drowning man,, was commended by the coroner, Mr. T. B., McNeil, at the inquest in Wellington to-day, into the death of William Blacklidg.e, aged 21 years, who lost his life- wh£n a .canoe ov.erturned in Evans B'ay qn • August 27. Deceased's companion, Maurice Benpett. and a. passer-by, Jamesi .Beaumont, both entered tFe cold water to assist deceased. The coroner said that he wished to commend them for the heroic way in which they attempted to saye the, drowning, man. It was.no.t any fault of their's that he lost his life.
