PREDETERMINATION OF SEX CLAIMED TO BE POSSIBLE. London, Saturday. Scientific experiments regarding predetermination of sex are reaching an advanced stage. The time seems to be coming when parents will be able to decide with a fair degree of certainty whether they will have a boy or a girl, a leading London doctor told the "Daily Mail." The doctor was discussing the treatment by Professor Unterberger, an East Prussian, under which a mother, desiring a girl, takes lactic acid, or takes bicarbonate of soda if she wants a boy. It is reported that of 78 German mothers trying the soda treatment,
77 had boys. Were Chronic Cases. The doctor added that scientists were closely following Professor Unterberger's experiments. His tests were particularly interesting because some of his cases had been women whose previous children were all girls. After following the treatment they had boys. Though the time is approaching when parents will be able to predetermine the sex of their children, it is likely to be many years.. before. insuranee companies cover the risk of a child being of the opposite sex to that desired,
