MAGISTRATE'S COURT
DEFENDANTS FINED FOR VARIOUS TRAFFIC BREACHES In the Whakatane Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., the following drivers were fined for being found in ch'arge of motor vehicles without being the holders of current driving licenses. The fine was £1 with court costs in each case, and the informations were laid by the traific inspector of tho Whakatane CoMnty Council: J. Buett Jnr.; Norman Carter, Elsie May Ghalm.ers, William Davi'es, Archie Low,
Lloyd Maunder, W. McFarland, W. Rutherford, Rangi Sullivan, Albert Tawa and W. Topp. H. Wine, for driving a truck for which 110 heavy traific license. had been obtained was fined £2 and costs 14/-. Mr. A. Donaldson, traffic inspector for the Whakatane Borough Council, prosecuted the following drivers for cutting tho corner on the wrong side of the traffic dome at the corner of Bridge Street and King Street. The fine in each instance was 10/- and costs. The drivers concerned were: R. E. Butler-Adams, M. Claris-Attwood, G. Flavell, Ii. Harris, C. . Herd, A. Kendall, R. Kingi, Sinclair and G. L. Washer. On Licensed Premises
Alex Wilson was charged with being found on licensed premises after hours and with aiding and abetting the licensee to supply liquor. The police explained that the charge dated back to December last but that it was not the defendant's fault that the case had been delayed so long. Wilson had ridden forty miles on a bicyele to attend court this morning and had to ride back again this evening. The court, under the eircumstancer, took a lenient view, a,nd fined defen*1 ant 10/- and costs on each charge.
