CROWD DISAPPOINTED WHEN BRADMAN FAILED TO APPEAR MATCH AT WELLINGTON

Wellington, Tuesday. Remarkable interest was taken in a two hours' cricket display betwee-n the Australian tourists and a Wellington eleven. About 7000 people attended at the Basin Reserve. Wellington batted for half-an-hour from noon, Lambert and Lamason opening to McCabe and Ives. Lambert was run out after scoring eight briskly and Lamason was partnered by Ivlorgan. He batted aggressively. In Ives' last over he hit two sixes to leg. After scoring 48 Wellington retired. Lamason, not out 26 Morgan, not out 8 Extras 1 McCabe took 110 wickets for 10

runs and Ives no wickets for 32. Nutt and Tolhurst opened for Australia, to the bowling of Crook and Lambert. Indulging in big hitting the visitors quiekly put on runs, scoring 30 in a quarter of an hour and 50 in 25 mlnutes. Tolhurst, in attempting a big hit was caught at the boundary by Lamason off Lambert. 54 — 1 — 37. McCabe came in. With tho expectation of seeing Bradman bat, the crowd grew to something like 10,000, hut they were disappointed, for Bradman did not appear. McCabe, however, knocked up 78 in 50 minutes. He hit two sixes. Richardson and Kippax were quiekly disposed of. Australia made 155 in 75 minutes. Lambert was the most successful bowler, taking three for 72 off 11 overs.
