The Government meteorolojiist Issued the following weather repwrt and forecast last niffht: — General situation:' An intense anticyclone is crossing the South island, wihile a series of shallow depressions are advancing over the North Tasman sea toward New Zealand. Forecast: Winds, south-easteriy to 'north-easTerly, light to moderate generally, but strong at times in exposed piaces. Weather: Mainly fair, but still sorne scattered showers or misty rain in the eastern and far northern districts; temperatures cool, but becoming gradually milder. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Departrnent for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.963ins. Thermometer (max.) 64.7deg. ThermomeTer (min.) 40.5deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 34.3deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 4.7hrs.
