MEAT AGREEMENT

(Press. Assn.-

details released N.Z. TO FURNISH ESTIMATE OF SHIPMENTS EACH SEASON NO BRITISH RESTRICTIONS

— By Telegraph — CopjTlghtx.

Wellington, Monday. The New Zealand agreements with the United Kingdom approving the estimate of the meat exports at the beginning of each season were released to-day for publication by the Rt. Hon. J. G-. Coates. The Dominion has undertaken to keep the annual export as part of her meat agreement, differing from Australia, which has agreed to limit her export during the coming year, 1933, to the volume of exports during the year ended June 30, 1932. It is stated officially that the New Zealand agreement differed from the Australian. Details of the New Zealand agreement were contained in a letter written by Mr. Coates to Mr. Stanley Baldwin the day before the Ottawa Conf erence closed. They have already been published in New Zealand, but the document now released does not contain certain paragraphs dealing with the minimum reductions aft'ecting the United Kingdom's imports of foreign meat, concerning

which Great Britain has yet t o negotiate with the other countries. "To assist in the orderly marketing of supplies," says the letter, "the Dominion will give reliable information of shipments of mutton and lamb as early as possible in each exporting season. This will cover the period from October 1, of one year to September 30 of the foll owing year. "For the season 1932-33, we estimate the. exports of frozen mutton and lamb at 200,000 tons, with a five per cent. increase in each of the following years. "For the year 1933, you may take it our shipments of frozen mutton and lamb will be the same as for the 12 months ended June 30, i932. It is understood that in considerai tion of this undertaking, no restrictions will be placed by Great Britain upon the importation of any meat from New Zealand during the period ending June 30, 1934.
