THE WEATHER
The Government meleorolojiist issued the following weather report and forecast last niffht: — General situation: Pressure is still high in the south from Tasmania to beyond New Zealarid, while a moderate cyclone is centred North of the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, 'south-easterly to 'north -westerly, generally moderate, but reaching gale force in the extreme north. Weather: Fair in the western and southern districts of the South Island; elsewhere cloudy with showers or misty rain, more especially in the eastern and far northern districts; temperatures cool in the south and moderate Tn the north. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.099ins. Thermometer (max.) 64.7deg. Thermometer (min.) 44.9deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 37.6deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshi'ne 6.9hrs.
