"Post" Whakatane Rep.)
SCOW NOT REPORTED
(From
Whakatane, Sunday. A slight earthquake shock was felt at 3.10 p.m. on Saturday. The seas, on the bar are still very big and there is no sign of the N.S.S. Coy's seow, Toa. A peculiarity which has been noticeable with both the present earthquake and the one which was so disastrous on the East Coast in February of last year, is the rapidity with which the sea rises when the shock oecurs, One resident states that on both occasions the sea transforms from comparative cairn to exceptional roughness almost immediately.
