FINDS CHILD FOR OPERATION. An S.O.S. message broadcast hy the B.B.C. one evening lately was instrumental in saving a child's life. A 13-year-old girl of Kennington Park, London, was taken hy her eldest sister to St. Thomas' Hospital, where the doctor was told that she had swallowed a pin. An X-ray photograph was taken and when the plate was developed it revealed that the pin had lodged in the hronchial tubes and that an. immediate operation was necessary. To their consternation, however, the doctors found that the child and her companion had vanished without awaiting the result of the examination and had Ieft no address. After a hurried consultation, h'ospital officials telephoned the B.B.C. and a message was sent out asking the child to return to the hospital immediately. This was heard by neighhours, and withih half an hour the girl was baek at the hospital.
