DELICIOUS

MUSICAL SUCCESS SKILFULLY INTERW OVEN WITH DRAMA. JANET GAYNOR AND CHARLES FARRELL. Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, most notable of screen lovers, are to be seen together again in "Delicious," new musical romance which opens on Monday at the Majestic Theatre. The film features six George Gershwin melodies, denoting the first time that the famous American composer has written the entire musical score for a motion picture. Unlike "Sun'ny Side Up" and "High Society Blues," initial musical suceesses of the famous pah*, "Delicious" presents no song numbers strictly as sueh. Each melody in the picture is skilfully woven into the body of the drama in such a way that the action of the story is never stopped. Briefly, the plot of the drama revolves about the expieriences of Janet Gaynor as a Scotch immigrant ii the steerage of a large line^ coving to America, and h'er adven.tures after she gets into the country illegally. Romance enters her life when she makes friends with a troupe of Russian entertainers on board the boat, and is made love to by their leader, a poet-musician, portrayed by Raul Roulien, handsome newcomer to th'e screen from the South American stage. Charles Farrell, a sportsman returning from European polo conquests, also tnakes the acquaintance of the wistful iittle steerage waif and soon enters into active competition for her love. El Brendel, as Farrell's valet adds much to the gaiety of each' situation by his incessant clowning. For a sweetheart, he has Manya Bo'oerti, Viennese beauty who makes her screen debut. Other players in the large cast include Virginia Cherrill, Olive Tell, Lawrence O'Sullivan, Mischa Auer, Marvine Maazel and Jeanette Gegna. Gershwin* s magnificent new rhapsody, together with several popular song ritiittbers, are introduced.
