THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroloqist issued the following weather repprt and forecast last pight: — General situation: The cyclone referred to yesterday is now centred north-east of the Bay of Plenty; there has been a rapid rise of pressure over the South Island. Forecast: Winds, mainly between south-easterly and 'north-easteriy, of gale force in parts of Cook Strait, but decreasing by to-morrow. Weather: Still rather unsettled with showers in most districts, but improving from the west and south; temperatures caol, but graduaUy becoming milder. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.3Q a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.979ins. Thermometer (max.) 54.9deg. Thermometer (min.) 52.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 48.7deg. Rainfall 0.6ins. Bright Sunshine Nil
