SIZE OF SECTIONS
RATEPAYER ASKS COUNCIL TO RECONSIDER DECISION. At Wednesday evening's meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council, Mr. A. J. Iles advised that he had received information to the effect that the subdivision of sections 5 and 6, recently submitted, had not met with the full appproval of the general committee and he deemed it advisahle to place some facts hefore the council in writing. . . . . ihe subdivision submitted provided for sections of one-sixth of an acre each, which he considered quite largs enough. The increase asked for by the general committee on the douhle row of allotments was 3ft 4in per frontage and on the single row at the back 4ft 3in per frontage. With reference to the formation of portion of Miller Street, Mr. Iles asked if this was not likely to become another eyesore, siich as the west end of Carnot Street, and whether it would serve any good purpose. Similar part streets had, in the past, been sold hy the borough to adjoining owners. The matter was referred haclc to tbe general committee for a further report. The general committee recommended that the amended plan he adopted, subject to the following amendments: (a) That Miller St., between Pererika and Elizabeth Streets, be aholished, hut that provision he made for this street south of Elizabeth Street. (b) That the minimum frontage of any section in this subdivision he 75 linlcs. Crs. Smith and Johnson hoth opposed the first clause, considering that the roading suggested was ample and that the size of the sections was adequate. After a very lengthy discussion, clause (a) was retained and clause (h) deleted, the Mayor recording his vote against the motion.
