PLACED IN VAULT
REMAINS OF LATE MR. TUITI MAKITANARA REINTERRED AT LEVIN. The hody of tho late Mr. Tuiti Makitanara, former M.P. for Southern Maori, has been removed from the temporary grave close to his residence at Levin and placed in a concrete vault nearhy. The disinterment was carried out last Monday, the burial j having taken place on June 28. Originaliy the body was placed in a grave dug at the summit of a sand- j hill, and since then a concrete vault has .been constructed nearby. The j distinterment was done under the j supervision of Inspector W. J. Guinan, j who had obtained an authority from the Minister of Health for the body to he exhumed and buried again. Relatives and friends were present at the ceremony of recommittal, Brother Bilhnan, of the Mormon Church, officiating and explaining the significance of the transfer. The vault was sealed with a conerete slab. It is understooH thei-e is a movement to have a monument erected to the memory of Mr. Makitanara in the vicinity.
