Wellington, Tuesday. Charles Victor Birch (39), manager, was charged to-day before Mr. Page, S.M., with theft as a servant of £1301 13s &Lfrom the Carpet Import Company, Ltd., also with failing fco account for £26, thereby committing theft. The police asked for a further remand till to-morrow, saying that they would then be ready to go on with the case. The amount mentioned in the second charge. would be included in the first.
