NEW SYSTEM IN CITIES AND SUBURBAN DISTRICTS

Wellington, Monday. The system of addressing correspondence within the metropolitan area to specified postal districts, such as already operates in London and Melbourne, is to introduced .in Auckland and Wellington, according to a statement by the Postmaster-General, Hon. Adam Hamilton. As an example letters posted for delivery in Brooklyn will in future show "Wellington, S.W. 1," in the last line of the address on the envelope. ) The new system, Mr. Hamilton stated, is necessary to assist in the quick and accurate distribution of correspondence for delivery. Wellington and suburbs have been divided into nineteen postal districts under the scheme,
