THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

Hurtling into cinema prominence with a pace as fast as modern life, "Men of Chance" comes to the Majestic Theatre next Thursday with Mary Astor and Ricardo Cortez cast in two of the most dynamic screen roles in years. There are no muted horns blowing in "Men of Chance." The film is a compelled blast - of strong emotions and strong men and women built up to a strong dramatic climax. Geared to the fast tempo iof Paris and other pleasure capitals, it reflects the exhilarating pace of modern times in a story filled with the hates and the loves of a dominant man tricked by his enemies through th'e agency of the woman h'e marries. The film is hailed as a notable achievement in motion picture production by virtue of its intense action and adherence to the accepted prineiple that a motion picture is essentially a dramatic vehicle of movement and story. It is a story of men of chance and thoroughbred women, shifting from the picturesque capitals of Europe and back again to Ameriea in a never-ceasing display of picturesque j locales and elaborate settings. Directed by George Archainbaud with' a supporting cast composed of John Halliday, Kitty Kelly, Ralph Ince and George Davis, the film reaches a I high mark in its delineation of life as it is lived in the pleasure centres of the world.
