THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: An anti-cyclone moved on to the South Isiand, but a fresh depression passed Tasmania and is also beginning to affect Southern New Zealand. Forecast: Winds becoming nortnerly except in the far North, and freshening, especially in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Weather: Firie generally at first, but becoming unsettled shortly with some rain in the western and southfern districts of the South Isiand; temperatures mild. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 SATURDAY Barometer 30.003ins. Thermometer (max) 58.8deg. Thermometer (min.) 40.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 33.8deg. RaPnfall 0.03ins. Bright Sunshine 6.2hrs. SUN DAY Barometer 30.323ins. Thermometer (max.) 51.6eg. Thermometer (min.) 30.9deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 20.5deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 8.2hrs.
