SPECIAL MEETING

BY REQUISITION TO DISCUSS RESIGNATION OF DAIRY COMPANY SECRETARY RANGITAIKEI PLAINS FACTORY There has been a eonsiderable flut;er among the suppliers of the Rangi;aikei Plains dairy factory during the East fortnight as a result of the anaouncement that the directors of the sompany had accepted the resignation of the company's secretary, Mr. J. M. Eccles. At a recent ballot of suppliers, it was decided by a two to one majority to give the contract for the transport of the company's butter output to the railways, despite the fact that some three years ago, a five years' contract was signed in this connection with the Northern Steamship Com- j pany. It is understood that the existing i contract must be worked out, but that j unless the majority of the suppliers j alter their opinion, at the expiration J the contract, the company's business will go to the railways. . J It is not known what bearing this development has upon the resignat'.on of the company's secretary, but when Mr. Eccles was interviewed this week by a "Morning Post" representative, he stated that the suppliers had given their decision and that he was not prepared to reopen the question. The intimation that Mri Eccles had | tendered his resignation and that it ; had been accepted by the directors, j came as news to very many of the j suppliers. A strong section, which , took the view that the matter should I be further discussed, immediately re- , quisitioned for a special general meet- j ing to go into the positionThe meeting is to be held in the \ Edgecumbe Hall on Saturday evening j and in the meantime, there has been eonsiderable speculation regarding the position. ; Mr. Eccles has been secretary of the company for the past nine and ahalf years and has played a large part in building up its present prosperous position.
