MORE HEAVY RAIN
IN MANAWATU DISTRICT Palmerston N., Thursday. The Manawatu River has fallen •flffim a peak of 14ft 6in to 6ft 6in. The flood waters are steadily, but slowly receding. There is still much land under water. The Palmerston-Foxton highway and railway are still blocked near Rangiotu. Wash-outs oecurred on the line and road. There may be a passage after 18 hoursFurther heavy rains f ell this morning.
