Grave fears and anxiety are entertained by the Chinese community here and in Nanking, as a result of the publication in Nanking of a semiofficial report based allegedly on military intelligence concerning a scheme of Japanese militarists to bring to a climax events set in motion for the Japanese oceupation of Manchuria. The scheme embraces the temporary seizure of the forts of Tsing-tao, Shanghai, Swatow and Amoy with the object of isqlating Chinese. troops and so preventing their despatch to Manchuria , and also to prevent the entry of arms and ammunition. In the meantime, Japanese-Man-choukuo forces will commence a move ment for the seizure of Jehol. A large number of Japanese warships ai'e reported to be between Tsing-tao and Chefoo.
