OBITUARY

MR. E. W. G. SMITH The death occurred at Paeroa early yesterday morning of Edmond Williams Gibson Smith, aged 57 years, late licensee of the Paeroa Hotel and formerly resident in RotoruaThe late Mr. Smith was born at Clutha and was the son of the late pv, Smith of that town. Subsequent to being employed at the Okoroire Hotel for some years, he secured the license of the Lake House Hotel, Rotorua, whel'e he remained for 12 years, until about ten years ago when he transferred to Paeroa. While in Rotorual the deceased gentleman took a keen interest in the activities of the Rotorua Racing Club and was a member of the executive of that body. Two br others of the deceased, klr. I-I. Smith and.' Mr. C. Smith are at present resident in Rotorua. He is survived by his widow and one son, Mr. J- Smith, of Cambridge. The interment will take place at tho Paeroa Cemetery at 2.30 p.m. to-day.
