Interesting Document An interesting document "was read at the annual general meeting of the Rotorua Bowling Club on Wednesday eyening by the president,. Mr. ■ J. McDowell. Kusabs, who was present at Wednesday night's annual meeting of the Rotorua Bowling Club, is the only remaining foundation member of the club, and still a member. The club was formed in 1901. There was a spontaneous reeognitipn of Mr. Ku?ab's. services to the club in the round of applause which greeted the announcement. Child Knocked Down t A serious injury was narrowly averted yesterday afternoon when a child riding a bicycle, was knocked down by a car driven by Mr. W. T. Cavanagh, -at the corner of Tutanekai and Pukuatua Streets. , Mr. Cavanagh's attention was held by a lorry which was turning the corner ahead of hinx. and when. the child appeared from in front of the lorry he made a qui.ek swerve,, striking the cycle ligbtly with the mudguard of his car. Although she was thrown off her bicycle, no injury was sustained by the child. Presentation from Arawa Tribe A double purpose will be served by the dance which is to be lield at Whakarewarewa to-morrow evening by. the Arawa Tribal Rugby Football Club. Combined with the farewell of the Maori team ^hich will travel to. Taranaki next week in quest of the Maniopoto Shield, the opportunity will be taken by the Arawas of making a presentation to Mr. A. G. Holland, late judge of the Native Land Court. The "K" Boys' Orchestra have been engaged for the dance which should prove an interesting functionRegimental Colours A feature of the forthcoming ball of the Rotorua Vickers Gun section of the Hauraki Regiment which is to be held on September 8 will be the presence of the regimental colours. These are the new colours which' were presented to the regiment by the Paeroa Returned Soldiers' Association, and accepted on its behalf by Major General R. Young, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., on February 30, 1930 to rep-lace the old regimental colours. The King's colour, made of pure silk comprises the Union Jack, and the Imperial colours of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, in which the cross of St. George is conjoined with the crosses of St. Andrews and St. Patrick, on a blue field. The entire . flag is fringed with a gold and maroon lacing, two inches deep. The regimental colour also a silk hanner, comprises a maroon cross mounted on a white background, in the centre of which is an eight pointed silver star. In the centre is a lion within a g'arter on which is worked in letters of gold, the words "Honi Soit Qui Mal'y Pense," with the name of "Hauraki Regiment" filling the intervening space. The whole is surrounded by a wreath consisting of rose, thistle, shamrock and fern, in which is intertwined a number of serolls, emblazoned with the hattle honours of the regiment. A professional notice in the advertising columns advises that Mr. L. Dingle and Mr. Gordon McDowell, barristers and solicitors 'of Rotorua, have joined forces in partnership and will in future practice- in the premises formerly occupied by Mr. Dingle, as Dingle and McDowell.
