TEACHER ENTERTAINED DURING RETURN VISIT ENJOYABLE DANCES
On Monday night last, 26th inst, a pleasant farewell dance was held here in honour of Miss Gwen M. Bremner, lately assistant mistress at the school and captain of the Girls' baslcetball club. The dance was held by the latter club, who took advantage of Miss Bremner's presence in the district to make her a presentation. Miss Bremner left Reporoa rather suddenly on transfer to Otana (near Waiuku) last Mareh. The hall had been decorated by the girls' baslcetball club and was a credit to them. Mr. Geo. Broomfield, headmaster of Waiotapu school, made the presentation of a beautiful silver teapot and tray. He spoke of Miss Bremner's many admirable and likeable characteristics, and expressed the general regret of the whole settlement in losing her. He pointed out that Miss Bremner was transferred to Otana so suddenly that it had been impossible to accord her a public farewell before she departed. Musical honours . were accorded Miss Bremner, who responded in a charming manner, thanking all for the gift and good wishes. After a very enjoyable' evening's dancing, with a sumptuous supper, the function concluded in the early hours of the morning, everyone going home tired, but happy. Miss G. M. Bremner is the guest of Mrs. Len Ward during the present school vacation. A dance was held last Saturday night by the Perpetual Forestry boys and Reporoa Hockey Club.
