ROTORUA TO MEET GISBORNE FOR BLACKBURN CUP In chess circles, the Blackburn Cup is on the same plane as the Ranfurly Shield in Rugby Or the Plunket Shield ixi cricket, and the Rotorua Chess Club is out to lift the trophy from the Gisborne Club, the present ho ders. The match will be a telegraphic one and will take -place next Saturday at 6.45 p.m. Preparations are being made by the Rotorua players on Friday evening when they will get their boards in readiness. •Owing to Messrs. W. F. McCarthy and A. E. Booth being unable to play, the match committee has rearranged the team as under; — Board 1, A. H. Fraer; 2, L. E. Andrews; 3, J. T. Burton; 4, S. L. Paterson; 5, W. J. Kurney; 6, M. R. Roland; 7, A. Howe; 8, J. H. Watson; 9, G. Vinall; 10, Dr. W. S. Wallis; 11, Rev. W. II. Speer; 12, A. W. R. Saxby. Mr. A. W. Downer, ex-president, has consented to act as umpire, and the scrutineers are Messrs R. G. Webb, E. Jackson, D. H. Edwards, E. F. Tibbetts, H. L. Musgrave and C. J. Rowley. Mr. E. A. Milne will operate. Thp club extends a cordial welcome~' to all those who may desire to witness the play.
