Rec. Aug. 28, 5.5 p.m. Winnipeg, August 27. Funds amounting to 1,250,000 dollars of the Church of England Diocese at Rupert Island and St. John's College have been seriously depleted. This was disclosed on Saturday by the church officials who commenced an examination of the books following the arrest, two days ago, of John MacRay, bursar of the Manitoba University, Chancellor of the Kupert Island Diocese, and a well known church and educational worket. Only 250,000 dollars of the 1,500,000 dollars of the fund are intact. This sum which is accredited to the Eeclesiastic Province, and was not handled by MacRay, remained in the Church Trust Fund to be divided bebveen the Bishop's fund and St. John's College fund. St. John's cemetery fund has been tampered with to an alarming extent. The clergys' retirement fund is aho seriously depleted.
