Invercargill, Friday. There was an unexpected win at the New Zealand basketball championships when Southlaud defeated Auckland by 13 goals to 11, after a most excitihg match. The weather was fine to-day, but was colder than it has been. The results of to-day's games are: Auckland 20 defeated Canterbury 8; Ashburton 20 v. South Canterbury 14; Hawke's Bay 22 v. Marlborough 17; Southland 25 v. Ashburton 6; Wellington 39 v. South Canterbury 8; Otago 40 v. Marlborough 11; Southland 13 v. Auckland 11; Wellington 24 v. Hawke's Bay 15.
