Rec. Aug. 25, 7.10 p.m. St. John's, August 24. Messrs Thor Solberg and Carl Petersen narrowly escaped death according to Douglas Fraser, a St. John's aviator. After flying to the scene of the crash, Solberg told Fra- j ser they encountered a rain and wind storm, and climbed to 5000 feet to cscape it. They tlien encountered a snow storm and the eng'ine stalled. They volplaned, but the plane went into a nose dive into the harbour. They were rescued by fishermen, but the plane was wrecked.
