ATTACK ON JAPANESE Tokio, August 24. At Chien-tao bandits waylaid a caravan, capturing tlxe- Japanese Consul and his entire police escort, who wero travelling in two motor-cars and three buses. In north-west Mukden, in a battle on Sunday and Monday, the Japanese report that 411 guerillas were killed. The Japanese casualties totalled 12. A station near Changchun was attacked, the Japanese railway guards being killed.
