UNBEATEN RECORD

(Press. Assn. —

N.Z. HOCKEY TEAM'S TOUR ENDS IN DRAW WITH N.S.W.

By Telegraph — Copyright).

Rec. Aug. 24, 10.20 p.m. Sydney, Aug. 24. The New Zealand hockey team played the last match of the tour today against New South Wales, which was greatly strengthened by the inclusion of three country cracks. The New Zealanders were lucky to escape defeat and maintain their unbeaten record. Spiers and Moore saved them on many occasions. Turbitt did not play owing to an injured knee. The New South Wales defence included Todkill, Australia's best back, who played a great game. The New Zealand forwards appeared slow after their long tour and lacked their customary combination. Munro suffered badly from a cut nose, but he continued to play. The score at half time was one all. There were brilliant rallies in the second half, but neither side was able to add to the score, and the game finally resulted in a draw. Welbourne scored for New Zealand and Hull for New South Wales.
