Dublin, August 23. Much comment has been aroused by the withdrawal of eharges of attempting to murder two policemen, preferred against Ryan Gilmore, a member of the Republican Army, who was imprisoned under the law passed by the Cosgrave Government, but released by De Valera upon his ascent to power. Gilmore, who is still in hospital, is alleged to have led an assault against the police at Kilrush on the occasion of a political gathering. An inquiry into allegations concerning the police methods in conneetion with the case will now be carried out.
