. — By Telegraph — Copyright).
n,ec. Aug. o p.m. Berlin, August 23. The Frankfurter Zeitung says that Marshal Hindenburg (the President) and the Cabinet have decided to dissolve the Reichstag immediately it meets on Tuesday, August 30, to avert a 570 to 39 defeat on a want of confidence motion. Herr Hitler (the leader of the Nazis) is reported to be hastening, j personally, to impress upon Herr von | Papen (the Chancellor) the necesi sity for pardoning the five condemned men. The majority of the newspapers hope for a commutation: — The Catholic publication, Germania, insists the misled masses must be shown that the State and law are above political parties. The Democratic press expresses the opinion that the verdict itself is a sufficient warning and urges the commutation of the sentence.
